متن کاملThe Transcriptional Profiling of Glycogenes Associated with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Metastasis
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Metastasis is one of the important reasons for the poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), abnormal glycosylation plays a pivotal role in HCC metastasis. The goal of this study was to screen and validate the transcriptional profiling of glycogenes associated with HCC metastasis. METHODOLOGY The differentially transcribed glycogenes were screened out by the H...
متن کاملGlycogene expression in conjunctiva of patients with dry eye: downregulation of Notch signaling.
PURPOSE Glycoconjugates regulate a variety of biological events in mucosal surfaces, such as differentiation of postmitotic epithelial cells and maintenance of the wet-surfaced phenotype. This study aimed to identify the repertoire of genes (glycogenes) involved in biosynthesis of glycoconjugates in conjunctiva of normal subjects and patients with dry eye. METHODS RNA from conjunctival impres...

Robert Haltiwanger: Dr. Haltiwanger received both his undergraduate degree (B.S. in Biology) in 1980 and his doctorate (Ph.D. in Biochemistry) in 1986 from Duke University. He did his doctoral work in the laboratory of Dr. Robert L. Hill on the purification and characterization of mammalian lectins, specifically the mannose receptor. He went on to do postdoctoral work with Dr. Gerald W. Hart at...
متن کاملCorrection for Kurcon et al., miRNA proxy approach reveals hidden functions of glycosylation.
Glycosylation, the most abundant posttranslational modification, holds an unprecedented capacity for altering biological function. Our ability to harness glycosylation as a means to control biological systems is hampered by our inability to pinpoint the specific glycans and corresponding biosynthetic enzymes underlying a biological process. Herein we identify glycosylation enzymes acting as reg...
